New Mexico Physical Therapist Jobs
New Mexico is facing a crisis right now, as it is projected that it will only be able to meet 64 percent of its demand for nursing jobs by the year 2020. The main factor for this is that despite a large nursing shortage, almost half of the qualified applicants in the state are being turned down by nursing programs. There are simply not enough trained nursing educators. A new bill proposed by NM Senator Jeff Bingaman aims directly to address this lack of nursing instructors, and if passed would be a huge boost to states like New Mexico.
Physical Therapist
Physical therapists work with people of all ages to help improve their mobility, reduce their pain and prevent disability. The major professional organization for physical therapists is the American Physical Therapy Association, and entry-level physical therapist and physical therapist assistant programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts excellent growth for physical therapist jobs and physical therapist assistant jobs. According to the U.S. BLS, the median annual physical therapist salary is $72,790, while the median annual physical therapist assistant salary is $46,140.
