Nursing jobs in Idaho have been one of the state.s hottest jobs in recent years, and demand for nurses is expected to continue. A few years ago Idaho was facing a projected shortage of nurses nearly double the national average. But state officials focused on the problem and increased numbers of Idaho residents joined the nursing workforce, considerably improving the situation. It is now projected that the supply of RNs in the state should be close to meeting demand if nursing programs continue to expand as expected.

Perioperative Nursing
A perioperative nurse assists the surgeons in the operating room by handling instruments, monitoring the patient and suturing incisions. The major professional organization for perioperative nurses in the United States is the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). The Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI) offers two credentials that are accredited by both the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and by the American Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC): Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) and Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA). The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts excellent, overall job growth for registered nurses. The median registered nurse salary is $62,450.
