Utah is experiencing the third worst nursing shortage in the country, and at least 1,000 RN nursing jobs need to be filled right away. This shortage is linked to the critical shortage of nurse faculty in the state. It has been reported that nursing programs have been turning away three times as many nursing applicants as they are admitting because they are full. Utah hospitals are being hurt the most by this. However, recent donations and government money have helped set up a program to train and graduate more RNs and recruit more nursing educators.
