Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
A pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) provides primary and specialty care to children and adolescents. To become a PNP, a registered nurse must earn a Masters degree or higher, become recognized as an advanced practice nurse by the state and become a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. Professional organizations include the Society of Pediatric Nurses. The Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) maintains the following certifications: Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC). The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) offers the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-BC) certification exam. According to PayScale, the nurse practitioner salary range is $68,554-$86,694.
