Michigan Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Jobs
Michigan has many nursing jobs available, but not enough nurses to fill them. According to an industry study, Michigan is projected to be 18,000 nurses short by 2015. The main issue, much like in other states, is that there is not enough qualified faculty to accommodate the numerous qualified applicants interested in nursing. Another issue is the aging nursing workforce. Both of these problems are being addressed, and the good news is nurses and nursing instructors are in high demand across the state.

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
A pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) provides primary and specialty care to children and adolescents. To become a PNP, a registered nurse must earn a Masters degree or higher, become recognized as an advanced practice nurse by the state and become a certified pediatric nurse practitioner. Professional organizations include the Society of Pediatric Nurses. The Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) maintains the following certifications: Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC). The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) offers the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-BC) certification exam. According to PayScale, the nurse practitioner salary range is $68,554-$86,694.
