Oncology Nursing
Oncology nurses and pediatric oncology nurses care for patients that have various types of cancer and may also be responsible for assisting with chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The major organization for oncology nurses is the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS). The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) offers five certifications: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON), Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) and Advanced Oncology Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (AOCNS). These certifications programs are accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) and the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts excellent, overall job growth for registered nurses.
