Nurse Anesthetist
Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) are advanced practice registered nurses that have been certified to provide anesthesia and related care before and after surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and obstetrical procedures. To become a CRNA, a licensed, registered nurse must have at least one year of work experience in an acute care setting, earn a master?s degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program and pass the National Certification Examination (NCE), which is developed and administered by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists (CCNA). CRNAs are among the highest-paid registered nurses, making an average annual salary of $168,500.
