Massachusetts has experienced a very severe nursing shortage, but recently many more people have entered the profession looking for nursing jobs. This has helped hospitals alleviate some stress, but there is still a struggle to find enough teachers for expanded nursing programs. As of last year, there was an 8 percent vacancy rate of nursing faculty in Massachusetts. Many area colleges are focusing on solving this problem so more nursing students can be educated and join the workforce. Nursing jobs in ICU is one field in the greatest demand right now in Massachusetts.
