Oklahoma LVN Jobs
The challenge of filling nursing jobs in Oklahoma may get more difficult before it gets easier. By 2012, Oklahoma is expected to have a shortage of more than 3,000 nurses if current trends continue. Like many other states, the main problem is a lack of nursing faculty and an aging population. What makes things more difficult in Oklahoma is that it is very rural, so recruitment is a challenge. Some hospitals are offering to pay some tuition for students who go into nursing, and offer nice signing bonuses to work full-time once they do.

LVN
Licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) are nurses that care for sick, disabled, injured or convalescent patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. LVNs are licensed by their state and must pass the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX-PN, which is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts excellent job growth for LVNs?21% growth between 2008 and 2018, with the best LVN job opportunities expected in nursing care facilities and in-home healthcare services. In 2008, the median annual salary for LVNs was $39,030.
