While the majority of the nation seems to be struggling to fill nursing jobs, Kansas has recently seemed to buck the trend. This is due to the increased number of students who decided to enter into nursing in recent years. The benefit is great for all parties involved. Kansas hospitals are no longer scrambling to fill vacancies, and nursing students are not being thrown into the fire right out of nursing school. The result has been higher quality nursing and improved retention rates throughout the state.

LPN
Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) are nurses that care for sick, disabled, injured or convalescent patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. LPNs are licensed by their state and must pass the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX-PN, which is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts excellent job growth for LPNs?21% growth between 2008 and 2018, with the best LPN job opportunities expected in nursing care facilities and in-home healthcare services. In 2008, the median annual salary for LPNs was $39,030.
