There is a great need to fill open many available nursing jobs in Alabama. A few years ago the Alabama Board of Nursing developed a Center for Nursing to help deal with the shortage issue. Their goal is to forecast workforce statistics and ensure planning is being done to fix the huge predicted gap between supply and demand for nurses, specifically RNs. The need for LPNs in Alabama will also be expected to increase tremendously, so opportunities in nursing are abundant.

LPN
Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) are nurses that care for sick, disabled, injured or convalescent patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. LPNs are licensed by their state and must pass the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX-PN, which is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts excellent job growth for LPNs?21% growth between 2008 and 2018, with the best LPN job opportunities expected in nursing care facilities and in-home healthcare services. In 2008, the median annual salary for LPNs was $39,030.
