North Dakota Gastroenterology Nursing Jobs

North Dakota has been facing a challenge filling nursing jobs in recent years, but a recent report suggests that the state.s nursing shortage may be easing. The RN vacancy rate has dropped considerably since 2005, leaving hospitals in pretty good shape. However, demand for nurses remains high, especially for LPNs and in rural areas of the state. Also, North Dakota.s elderly population will double by 2020, creating a huge demand for all types of skilled nurses.

Gastroenterology Nursing

Gastroenterology nurses care for patients with intestinal and digestive disorders, including acid reflux, abdominal bleeding, irritable bowel syndrome, cancer and ulcers. An experienced gastroenterology nurse can become a Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) if he or she passes the national certification exam administered by, and meets the requirements of, the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN). This certification exam is accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS), and Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurses must renew their CGRN certification every five years. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects excellent, overall job growth for registered nurses.
