Even if they perform little to no direct patient care, forensic nurses must keep their RN license active. Certificates in Forensic Nursing are offered by such organizations as the University of California and American Forensic Nurses (AMRN), and forensic nurses can receive further certifications from the Forensic Nursing Certification Board (FNCB) as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Adult/Adolescent (SANE-A) or Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Pediatric (SANE-P). The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts excellent, overall job growth for registered nurses.
