Portland Flight-Transport Nursing Jobs

A recent effort to lower the nursing vacancy rate in Portland has been successful, with nursing jobs being filled faster by qualified individuals. According the Oregon Center for Nursing, 41 percent of currently licensed RNs are expected to retire by 2025. Thus, there is a huge demand for a large young workforce to come up. Portland area hospitals are responding by paying students. tuition costs in exchange for them working as nurses for an agreed amount of time. Three main hospitals in Portland are Oregon State Hospital, Providence Portland Medical Center, and Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

Flight-Transport Nursing

Flight-transport nurses are emergency-trauma nurses that treat patients during air and/or ground transport before they reach a medical facility or while transferring critically ill patients between facilities. The Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) credential is available through the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) and is accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS). To become a CFRN, a registered nurse must have a current license; flight nurse experience is recommended but not required. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects excellent, overall job growth for registered nurses. According to PayScale, the flight nurse salary range is $58,340-$80,654.
