The need for more nursing jobs is expected to grow in Oregon, as an aging RN workforce moves closer to retirement. A program called the N2K Nursing Education Program, a collaboration of the Oregon Health Career Center, hospitals and nursing programs, aims to take on the nursing shortage by providing tuition money for hospital employees to complete nursing degrees. Furthermore, hospitals throughout Oregon have taken measures to improve recruitment and retention of nurses, and there has been a statewide focus on adding more nursing educators to schools.
Travel Nurse
A travel nurse is an individual who works on contract through a travel nurse agency. Travel nurse agencies offer boundless job opportunities for nurses who are willing to take assignments around the country as well as around the world. Travel nurses choose their assignments, and they receive excellent salaries and benefits for their work. Travel nurses are in great demand, and work in a variety of specialty areas.
