The American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification, Inc maintains two certification programs: Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) and Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA)both of which are accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS). The major professional organization for perianesthesia nursing is the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN).
