Washington Orthopedic Nursing Jobs
As the need for more nursing jobs increases in the state of Washington, campaigns are running to increase the awareness of the value of the nursing profession to society. Washington faces many of the same problems as other states in its nursing shortage, so a major focus has been adding nursing faculty and improving nursing education programs for the rapidly expanding number of people interested in nursing as a career. If all goes according to plan, the state will be able to reverse the scary projection of being 26,000 nurses short by the year 2020.

Orthopedic Nursing
Orthopedic nurses treat patients that have musculoskeletal problems. The major professional orthopedic nursing organization is the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON). The Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board (ONCB) maintains the Orthopedic Nurse Certified (ONC) credential, as well as the Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner ? Certified (ONP-C) and Orthopaedic Clinical Nurse Specialist ? Certified (OCNS-C) exams. The ONC certification is accredited by the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS). According to PayScale, the median salary for orthopedic nurses with the ONC is $63,871 for RNs and $90,000 for clinical nurse managers. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts excellent, overall job growth for registered nurses.
